AC Power Loss

Your Honeywell alarm system will let you know if its AC power supply has been cut off. Aside from the beeping sound, your system will also display AC LOSS or NO AC. When that happens, the security system is running on backup battery power.

Keypad display – AC LOSS or NO AC

To silence trouble beeps: Enter the user code followed by the OFF key.

Reset once power returns if still showing low battery:

Disarm the system twice. Key in your four-digit security code. Press 1 (or the OFF key). Do this step again. The green READY light will then turn on.
Arm your system. Key in your security code and press 2 (or the AWAY key). The keypad will beep twice and display the Armed message.

Low Battery

Over time, your system battery will drain and will need replaced.

Keypad display – SYSTEM LO BAT or BAT

To silence trouble beeps: Enter the user code followed by the OFF key.

Replace the battery: Open the control panel. To open the panel, try opening it with a screwdriver. Some panels require a key or security code to be opened.

Identify the battery. If you can remove the panel yourself, you’ll see a small, black, square-shaped box connected to a circuit board. This is the battery. Take note of what type of battery it is so you can purchase a replacement. Call 770-963-0305 to pick up a battery (at our office in Suwanee, GA) at no charge.

Disconnect the battery from the circuit board. You’ll see two wires connecting the battery to the circuit board. Start by gently removing the black wire from the negative terminal on the battery. Next, remove the red wire from the positive terminal.

Safety tip: Be careful that no metal objects touch the battery terminals or wire connectors.

Connect a new battery: Reconnect the red wire (positive terminal). Then, reconnect the black wire (negative terminal) to the battery.

After the battery is connected, go to your alarm keypad and see if low battery notification is gone. If the warning persists after 4 hours (could possible show low battery up to 4 hours after replacement), contact EMC Security at 770-963-0305 for further troubleshooting.

Honeywell Lynx Models

(Lynx 5000, 5100, 5200, 5210)

Your security system can automatically test itself for:

Power failures
Low batteries
Sensor supervision
Communication trouble with the central monitoring station

“Ready to Arm – System Trouble” is displayed in a yellow status bar at the top of the screen.

To silence trouble beeps: Press the House Key Twice (Green key lower left) then Enter your code. The message display will remain on as a reminder.

Following a battery replacement if needed, rechargeable batteries may take up to 48 hours to charge. After the new battery is connected, type in your code to remove the message. If the warning persists, contact EMC Security at 770-963-0305 for further troubleshooting.

Concord Systems

(Concord exp, Concord 3, Concord 4)

The Asterisk (*)key on your user interface pad is the most commonly used key. This is your SYSTEM STATUS; it tells you what is going on with the system.

To silence trouble beeps: If your system is beeping, Press the * (asterisk) button, to display the trouble code.

If the keypad is beeping 5 times in a row, press the * (asterisk) button, to display the trouble code. Then click the Disarm button, followed by your code.

First Alert

(First Alert 110, 120, 130, 140, 148, 168, 1220, 1600, 1660, 2000)

This condition occurs if your security system has been accidentally unplugged or if there has been an AC power outage. Any status lights go out immediately, and trouble beeps start after 5 minutes. Six rapid beeps sound every minute until the trouble condition is corrected. Press Status to show the AC failure.

If AC power is not restored within a programmed period of time, the system will call the central monitoring station. The backup battery, if fully charged, will last for 18 to 24 hours (depending on the load applied to the panel) with no AC power.

To silence trouble beeps: Press Status OR arm then disarm the system while the trouble condition exists. Trouble beeps will resume 4 hours later unless the trouble condition is corrected.

Once power returns: When power is restored, the panel will return to the arming state with the same zones bypassed it had prior to losing power

System Battery Failure

Over time, your system battery will drain and will need replaced.

To silence trouble beeps: Press Status OR arm then disarm the system while the trouble condition exists. Trouble beeps will resume 4 hours later unless the trouble condition is corrected.

When your system detects one of the problems above, six rapid beeps sound every minute until the trouble condition is corrected. To stop the trouble beeps, press Status icon and then press the Listen icon OR arm then disarm the system while the trouble condition exists.

AC Power Failure

AC Power Loss. This condition occurs if your security system has been accidentally unplugged or if there has been an AC power outage. The Power icon will appear in the top left corner of the screen display, and trouble beeps start after 5 minutes.

If AC power is not restored within a programmed period of time (5 to 254 minutes), the system will call the central monitoring station. The backup battery, if fully charged, will last for 18 to 24 hours (depending on the load applied to the panel) with no AC power.

To silence trouble beeps: Press Status OR arm then disarm the system while the trouble condition exists. Trouble beeps will resume 4 hours later unless the trouble condition is corrected.

Once power returns: When power is restored, the panel will return to the arming state with the same zones bypassed it had prior to losing power.

System Battery Failure

Over time, your system battery will drain and will need replaced.

Trouble beeps will start and the Battery icon will appear in the top left corner of the STATUS & SETTINGS screen. If your AC power is not working, your security system will shut down once the battery has failed.

To silence trouble beeps: Press Status OR arm then disarm the system while the trouble condition exists. Trouble beeps will resume 4 hours later unless the trouble condition is corrected.

This condition occurs after a complete loss of power (AC and battery). When power is restored, the panel will return to the arming state with the same zones bypassed it had prior to losing power.

Your security system can automatically test itself for:

Power failures
Low batteries
Sensor supervision
Communication trouble with the central monitoring station

When your security system detects one of the problems above, interior sirens sound trouble beeps rapidly six times, and then again every minute, until the trouble condition is corrected.

To silence trouble beeps: Perform a status check by pressing the SYSTEM STATUS button or change the system from being armed to disarmed or disarmed to armed, the beeps will stop. If the problem is not corrected (new battery or power restored), beeps start again 4 hours later.

Clearing System Status: If a trouble condition is corrected, press the SYSTEM STATUS button then disarm the system to clear system status. If the trouble condition was a low CPU battery, perform a sensor test. The SYSTEM STATUS button should turn off if all trouble conditions have been corrected.

DSC Systems

Your security system can automatically test itself for:

Communication trouble with the central monitoring station

To silence trouble beeps: Go to any keypad and make sure the system is disarmed. If not, enter your disarm code as usual. Press * 2 # . This will silence your DSC alarm system keypads. Keypads may begin beeping again if:

The ORIGINAL cause of the trouble condition momentarily clears itself, then returns, or
A DIFFERENT trouble condition occurs

In either case, pressing * 2 # again will acknowledge and silence the latest beeping event.

To display trouble codes: Go to any keypad and press *, then 2. The keypad will switch from its “idle” display to its “trouble code” display. The lit LED’s or text will now correspond to the trouble code table in your DSC alarm system manual.

AC Power Loss

If your DSC home alarm is beeping for AC trouble, it means that the panel isn’t getting power from the low voltage transformer. This is a small cube that plugs into an outlet, usually near the main panel.

Possible problems and solutions:

Transformer is unplugged (Plug it in)
Transformer has a blown internal fuse (Replace transformer)
Outlet has no power (Check for a tripped circuit breaker)

System Battery Failure

If your DSC home alarm is beeping due to this condition, the main panel battery is low or failing.

If you’ve recently had a power outage, wait 24-48 hours after power is restored. The battery may simply have discharged and will recharge when the electricity comes back on. If the beeping persists, the battery probably needs to be replaced.

When the Control Panel detects a system issue, it emits a trouble alert. A trouble alert is a sequence of six (6) beeps that occur once a minute.

To silence trouble beeps:

At the Home screen tap Security.
Tap the flashing YELLOW square next to the Menu button.
At the Alerts screen, tap Ok.

NOTE: If the issue causing the alert is not addressed within eight (8) hours, the six (6) “beep” alert sequence resumes.
