Recently, EMC Security’s Medical Alert System Specialist, Ralph Collier, received a call from a customer who had installed the EMC Medical Alert System for his 89 year old mother who lived alone in Gainesville, GA. Because she recently needed to move to a nursing home facility, her son called to cancel the service. However, he made a special point to say that during the past 3 months, his mother activated the device on four occasions. Each time the system worked perfectly saving her life all four times. He stated that because of the EMC Medical Alert, his mother was able to remain in her home the additional time. This meant a lot to her and her family. The pendant gave his mother a sense of security and his entire family peace of mind. He is very thankful that she had the EMC Medical Alert system while she was still living at home and highly recommends it for anyone who has an elderly loved one that is disabled or lives alone.

Brazen Intruder Answers Monitoring Response Call While in the Home!
Thursday, March 29th, 2012The EMC Security monitoring center received a back door and hallway motion detector alarm from the home of a customer in Athens, Georgia. The monitoring center immediately responded to the alarm by calling the home to check the status. During that call a male voice answered the phone, listened for a moment, and hung up after being asked the password. A few seconds after hanging up, the front door sensor had detected activity. It appears that the intruder had broken into the home and answered the call to check and see if the home security system was indeed being monitored. When the intruder realized that the alarm system was indeed being monitored, the intruder fled the home through the front door. With the help of the customers monitored security system, nothing was taken from the home and no one was home at the time. This is a great example of why alarm monitoring centers require passwords when calling to ensure that it is someone who is supposed to be at the home at the time of the alarm.
Medical Alert Pendant Helps Elderly Customer Home Alone
Thursday, March 29th, 2012The EMC Security monitoring center received a medical alert two-way pendant alarm from the home of an elderly customer living in Elberton, Georgia. The customer had fallen while at home and could not get back up on her own. Distressed and home alone, she pressed the button on her two-way pendant she was wearing and was able to speak directly to a monitoring center operator though the pendant. She told the operator that she did not think she needed an ambulance, but needed some assistance in getting back on her feet. The operator was able to contact the customer’s daughter and remained on the phone with her until the help she needed had arrived. When asked about the incident the customer’s daughter said, “I talked to my mom, and she said everything went smoothly. She said the operator talked to her until help arrived, that my brother was called promptly, and that she was pleased with the way it worked. Thank you so much.” Without the medical alert pendant, no one knows how long the customer may have lay on the floor or what could have happened to her. Please be sure to contact EMC Security about our medical alert pendant for your elderly or disabled loved ones. With this kind of personal emergency response system, your loved ones are never alone or without help.
Home Invasion Attempt While the Customer was Home!
Tuesday, March 27th, 2012The EMC Security received an alarm from the security system at the home of a Lawrenceville customer. It was in the middle of the afternoon at 3:16pm when the back door sensors were activated. The customer was at home alone. The monitoring center immediately contacted the customer who said she was at the home on the 2nd level and did not know why the alarm had been activated as the sirens were ringing.
The police were immediately dispatched as the monitoring center operator remained on the phone with the customer until the police arrived. Moments later, she advised that a burglar had indeed tried to break in her home and that downstairs back door was wide open. The sound of the alarm system had scared the intruder away and prevented him entering her home. Had the alarm not been activated, she would have never known that someone was trying to break into her home. This is a true testament as to why you should ALWAYS arm your system. This could have ended with a very bad outcome, had the customer not had a security system and come face to face with an intruder who did not realize there was anyone home. The burglar could have gravely harmed the customer as well as steal all of her valuable possessions. Please continue to read the other blogs and learn why it is important to have a security system for you home or business.

In this day and age, we are seldom surprised that thieves will steal anything not locked down, even a power box. We notified the customer who traveled out to the business and discovered the theft of the power box from his business. The monitoring center contacted police for him and he reported the incident.
