The EMC Security monitoring center received an alarm from the garage door at the home of a customer in Flowery Branch. The operator immediately called home to check to verify the alarm. The person who answered provided the proper password and indicated that everything was fine and she accidentally activated the alarm. The customer later called the monitoring center and advised that her home had been burglarized. The monitoring station learned that the person who answered the call at the time of the alarm was a family member who knew the password to tell the monitoring center, but did not have permission to be in the home. Unfortuantely, this family member had stolen several items from the customer’s home. The customer then changed her security system keypad code as well as the alarm response password to prevent this from happening again.
Please remember that only those who should have access to the home or business should be given the password or keypad code. Customers should also change passwords and keypad codes from time to time to help prevent this type of situation from happening. Please contact EMC Security at 770-963-0305 to speak with a Security Consultant to learn more security tips on how to help protect your home.
