Recently, EMC Security was contacted by the customer of another alarm company in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the customer had been the victim of a burglary at their convenient store business and suffered significant losses. Disappointed with the service of his current security company and alarm system, the customer contacted EMC Security for a free consultation. Once at the customer’s monitored business, the EMC Security consultant discovered several areas that needed improvement. Among them, the consultant discovered that key parts of the system were blocked by signage and that there was an inadequate number of devices. For example, there were no glass break detectors for a store with lots of glass windows and doors and not enough motion detectors. The few motion detectors that were there had been poorly placed throughout the business. There were also several blocked devices. In addition to the security system’s lack of devices and equipment, the customer did not perform regular system tests. A camera system would have added value to the system as well. Also, using cell backup communication, which the customer did not have, would have been valuable had their communication line been compromised.
The customer let the EMC Security consultant know that his current security company representative did not recommend such additional devices and equipment and said that because he was not a security consultant, he relied on that company’s representative to offer him proper protection, which as not the case. Since then, the customer decided to switch monitoring service to EMC Security and add upgrades to his business security system. He was very thankful that the EMC Security consultant reviewed all of his options and areas of his security system that needed improvements and upgrades.
