Residential Security

How is the EMC Security Medical Alert Pendant different from other personal emergency alert and response systems?

Using 1.9 GHz DECT technology, the EMC Security Medical Alert Pendant allows you to explain your emergency to our certified, 24-hour emergency response technician by speaking directly into your personal pendant — the smallest two-way communication device in the industry. To talk to someone using our competitor’s devices, you have to scream from another room and pray that someone can hear you.

And, because all our monitoring center is local — and not in some other part of the world — you can rest assured that when you contact our technicians for help, they will be aware of the time, the weather, and other local factors that can save precious seconds in an emergency.

Can I use the EMC Security Medical Alert Pendant outside my home?

Unlike other products, you do not have to be near the base station for someone to hear you. The EMC Security Medical Alert Pendant is powerful enough to cover up to a 5,000-square-foot home and still have enough range to go another 100 feet out into the yard.

To make sure your pendant works out in the garden or in the garage, just hold the test button for five seconds. If the base unit is within range, you’ll hear “All systems are OK.”

How do I install the EMC Security Medical Alert Pendant?

Our certified response team will come to your home, install and program all of the products, test them, and make sure you know just what to do in the event of an emergency.

Does it use a battery?

The EMC Security Medical Alert pendant uses a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. We give you two batteries to use — one goes in the pendant; the other you can keep charging in the base station. The battery standby time is about three to four months, but you can test the battery at any time by pushing the test button on your pendant. If the test indicates that the battery is low, you can simply swap it with the recharged battery in the base station.

Will it still work during a power outage?

The EMC Security Medical Alert pendant comes with four backup batteries already installed in the base unit. If your power goes out, the base unit automatically switches over to these rechargeable batteries for over 24 hours of extra power.

How many pendants can you use in a single household?

If more than one person needs to use a medical alert pendant in your home, we can set up four pendants to work for a single base unit.

Is the pendant water resistant?

Yes. It meets the industry standard IPX-5 test for water-resistance. You can even wear your pendant in the shower.
